First measurement
Set up a microphone, choose what to measure, and start a live sound-level session in a few minutes.
Open WebRTAOpen the app and select Allow access when prompted. WebRTA processes audio locally in your browser. For reliable measurements, disable operating-system audio enhancements such as noise suppression and automatic gain control when your device allows it.
In Sources, use the plus button to add an input. Expand the source, select your audio device and channel, and give it a recognizable name.
Open Calibration. Use Microphone calibration for sound-pressure levels, or Digital full scale when you need dBFS readings from a digital signal.
For meaningful dB SPL values: calibrate with a steady reference such as a 94 dB, 1 kHz sound calibrator, or enter a known manual calibration value. Uncalibrated microphones cannot provide trustworthy absolute levels.
In Meters, select the plus button. Choose the source and meter type. A-weighted readings are suited to general environmental and workplace sound; C-weighting retains more low-frequency content; Z-weighting is unweighted.
Select Metering at the top of Settings. The live view shows your configured meters. Return to Settings at any time to change sources, meter types, or update rates.
Use Analysis for a spectrum, spectrogram, meter history, or multi-input response measurement. Use Export to configure an SPL log or WAV recording, then run and save it from the Metering view.
